IMGROUP a partner in DICOEMS

IMGROUP is an active partner in the DICOEMS Consortium (IST 2002 507760). DICOEMS will provide an integrated environment that will support the decision making of actors of the medical sector (doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff) in critical situations. Data is collected from care providers on the incident field. The DICOEMS system will be a portable environment to enable the medical professionals to have access to resources, both human and material, from remote locations. DICOEMS will also permit the in-situ care provider to get timely, on-demand, integrated and intelligent access to content of specialised databases and/or digital libraries, such as life-support protocols, thatare necessary for the decision making process. Overall, it will support timely interaction between health professionals and will promote research in the areas of distributed systems, peer networks, knowledge management, multi-agent systems, security in healthcare environment and integration with advanced telecommunication capabilities. From a technical point of view, a major objective is to adopt open and distributed system architecture so to be able to be as much as platform independent and use widely accepted technologies and standards.
